Challenge

A federal geospatial-intelligence customer required a trusted partner to drive enterprise architecture maturation, requirements engineering, and systems integration across a complex, multi-stakeholder intelligence environment. The mission demanded rigorous Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) discipline, the ability to operate at TS/SCI clearance levels, and deep expertise in translating strategic objectives into authoritative architecture products — while managing requirements traceability across dozens of mission-critical systems and coordinating across organizational and classification boundaries.

Our Approach

CEdge joined this engagement as a subcontractor supporting a large prime on a full-and-open, T&M enterprise engineering task order. Our team of cleared architects and engineers delivered across five interconnected capability areas.

GEOINT Enterprise Architecture Development

CEdge developed and maintained the GEOINT Enterprise Architecture (GEA) — a comprehensive framework spanning Business Architecture, Data Architecture (Conceptual, Logical, and Physical models), Network Architecture, Security Architecture, and Solutions-Level Architectures. This work directly informed capability investment decisions across the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), the Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and supporting federal agencies.

Integration Modernization

CEdge led the transition from legacy point-to-point integration interfaces to a robust API-oriented architecture. This shift eliminated brittle system-to-system dependencies, improved interoperability, and established a unified data layer accessible across the enterprise — a foundational enabler for modernization programs across the intelligence community.

Requirements Engineering

CEdge produced the full spectrum of requirements deliverables — Enterprise Capabilities Documents (ECDs), Statements of Capabilities (SOCs), Conceptual Design Documents (CDDs), Capability Objectives Requirements (CORs), and Service-Oriented Requirements (SORs) — and maintained requirements traceability from enterprise objectives through segment engineering to software and system specifications.

System Resilience Analysis

CEdge assessed resilience across 30+ NGA mission-critical systems, evaluating each across four dimensions: geographic deployment, network communications posture, cyber resilience, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) accuracy. Findings were consolidated into actionable assessments for mission assurance planning.

Business Process Transformation & Change Management

CEdge supported ongoing business process transformation, including monthly RFC (Request for Change) monitoring and cost analysis, CONOPS documentation and review, Engineering Change Board (ECB) coordination, and facilitation of the STSI-C Working Group. Agile and Lean Six Sigma methodologies were applied throughout to maintain delivery cadence and process discipline.

Security & Compliance

All work was performed in compliance with NIST 800-53 security protocols. All personnel maintain active TS/SCI clearances, enabling CEdge to operate across classification boundaries and deliver products into sensitive compartmented environments.

Results

  • Full GEOINT Enterprise Architecture developed across Business, Data, Network, Security, and Solutions-Level domains — directly informing capability investment across the NSG, ASG, and federal partners
  • API-oriented integration environment established, replacing legacy point-to-point interfaces across the enterprise
  • 30+ mission-critical systems assessed for resilience across geographic, network, cyber, and COOP dimensions
  • Full requirements traceability maintained from enterprise objectives through system-level specifications across multiple lines of effort
  • Continuous delivery of engineering and architecture products under Agile and Lean Six Sigma frameworks since 2019 — ongoing engagement reflecting sustained customer confidence
  • All personnel operating at TS/SCI clearance with zero personnel security incidents
