Overview
CEdge has been the prime IT partner of a leading manufacturer of in-ground residential swimming pools and components since June 2014. The company takes custom orders from business partners for steel, fiberglass, and polymer pools, safety covers, and liners.
We started with a formal assessment of the manufacturer’s B2B architecture and business processes, then built a technology roadmap and replaced a struggling vendor system with a new eCommerce platform. Over more than a decade the engagement has grown into full lifecycle ownership: development, DevSecOps, cloud migration, and managed sustainment.
Scope of Work
B2B eCommerce Platform
We designed and sustain the manufacturer’s B2B platform on SAP Hybris, with a multi-catalog structure for the United States and Canada. The platform has gone through multiple major version upgrades, and we use SOAP and REST services, an enterprise service bus, and an API gateway to connect it with the manufacturer’s enterprise applications and suppliers.
Identity and Single Sign-On
The manufacturer’s applications serve more than 10 million site users across business and consumer audiences. We helped deliver a federated single sign-on and identity management solution built on WSO2 and Active Directory, with an API gateway that lets multiple vendors integrate through one secure layer.
Quoting and Workflow Portal
We built a configure, price, and quote application for complex custom pool orders, and an internal workflow portal on Liferay. The portal takes pool measurements from business customers and routes them through specification, design, approval, and handoff to suppliers.
EDI and Supply Chain Integration
We analyzed the manufacturer’s trading partners and built an EDI solution covering the full supply chain from order to payment. It supports more than 20 document types over AS2, AS3, and VAN connections, along with custom XML formats, and adds shipment visibility with GIS capabilities.
DevSecOps and Cloud-Native Delivery
We moved the customer from manual, error-prone deployments to a full CI/CD pipeline with automated code quality and security scanning. We also refactored legacy monolithic applications to a cloud-native architecture and moved from infrastructure as a service to a container platform, using infrastructure as code to stand up and shut down environments. Delivery follows Scrum, Kanban, and related Agile practices, with a separate fast path for urgent production fixes.
Managed Sustainment
We back up the manufacturer’s internal help desk with Tier II and III support, manage configuration and releases across the lifecycle, and bring in and manage specialist resources when a problem needs them.
